POLICE have thwarted the production of a "complex cannabis factory" in Holyhead.

They seized 64 cannabis plants after a Misuse of Drugs Act search warrant was executed at Lands End.

A 24-year-old local man was arrested but later released.

PC Dave Sanderson, at Llangefni Police Station, who coordinated the operation, said: "During the late afternoon of Friday, May 18, officers executed a Misuse of Drugs Act search warrant in Lands Ends, Holyhead and seized 64 mature cannabis plants with a uncommonly high yield of the drug.

"Also seized was an array of industrial extractor fans, vents, coolers and other paraphernalia to assist in the plant’s production.

"A 24 year old local man was arrested in connection with the production and supply of cannabis and following interview he was released under investigation.

"If anyone has any information concerning suspicious behaviour in the Lands’ End area of Holyhead, or in connection with drug production locally, I’d urge them to contact police.

"Possession, distribution and cultivation of controlled drugs will not be tolerated in our communities and we will continue to take positive, robust action.

"However we can’t tackle this problem alone, and key to all our work is intelligence and I cannot emphasise enough the importance of the community sharing their concerns with us."

Information can be passed to the police in several ways, from either speaking to your local police officer or PCSO, contacting the control room direct via the web live chat http://www.north-wales.police.uk/contact/chat-support.aspx or phoning 101.

To give information anonymously phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

He added: “In line with the force’s Operation Scorpion we are fully committed to the investigation of serious and organised crime and I’d reiterate that anyone with any information regarding the production and supply of controlled drugs, or anyone they believe is involved in organised crime, should contact North Wales Police."
