A BT worker murdered his wife after knifing her in the heart at her Bangor home, a jury heard on Thursday.

Paul Jordan, 54, of Ffordd Siabod, Felinheli, has denied murdering Betty, aged 53, at Trem y Garnedd, Bangor, last July.

But a Caernarfon Crown Court jury was told he accepted he was guilty of manslaughter.

Peter Griffiths QC, opening the case for the prosecution, said Jordan had believed his wife was having an affair.

Mrs Jordan and the other man had denied there was ever an affair and this was accepted by the defence, Mr Griffiths explained.

The prosecutor said Jordan rented a property at Felinheli. But he got in his car to drive to the family home at nearby Bangor “to finally rid himself of the ‘problem’ he perceived he had with his wife.”

The QC said Jordan, well-liked at BT where he held a good job, possibly planned to kill himself afterwards.

“The defendant knew full well what he was doing. His actions were both controlled and deliberate,” Mr Griffiths declared.
