A MAN arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Holyhead earlier this month is set to appear in court this morning.

The 22-year-old from Merseyside was arrested on Wednesday after a man was stabbed outside Waterside Flats on March 6 and was left fighting for his life.

The arrested man is set to appear before Llandudno Magistrates Court and police will apply for extra time to question him.

The man has also been arrested in connection with a "less serious" incident of violence in Market Street, Holyhead on February 21.

Following the attack on March 6, Detective Chief Inspector Brian Kearney thanked emergency responders and medical and nursing staff at Ybsyty Gwynedd for saving the victim's life.

The 28-year-old is recovering and is no longer in intensive care.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to come forward in order to help them gather the full facts and identify all those involved.
