POLICE appealing for information after thieves broke into a chapel and a home near Holyhead causing damage over the weekend.

Sometime between 5pm, on Saturday February 23 and 9am, on Monday, February 26, thieves broke into a home that was being renovated in Llanfaethlu, Holyhead, and stole two wooden handled lump hammers and caused damage to the property.

They also entered the Capel Ebenezer causing extensive damage.

Investigating officer PC Lois Owen at Holyhead Police Station said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour or activity in the area at the time of the break-in.

"The damage caused to the chapel was extensive. This is a shameful act of vandalism which could have a detrimental effect on a small community.

“I’m asking local businesses and communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.

"It is also worth reminding the community to ensure their property is always locked and secured and to keep valuables out of sight.”
