HUMAN remains were discovered on a beach in Gwynedd this morning.
At 6.43am, North Wales Police were called to attend the scene at Y Felinheli beach near Bangor.
They were alerted to the discovery of human remains that appeared to have been brought ashore.
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "Owing to the condition and size of the remains it is not possible to provide any further detail at this time.
"Local officers are now making enquiries to establish identity and inform next of kin.
"At this time the death is being treated as unexplained and HM Coroner for north west Wales will be informed."
Forensic officers also attended the scene and inquiries are now underway to establish the identity of the remains and how they came to be there.
There are no further details at this stage.
