POLICE are investigating after the rear window of a car shattered with a young child inside.

The incident happened at Poolside, Caernarfon, at about 2.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

Reports claimed the vehicle was shot at but North Wales Police say there is no evidence to suggest the damage was caused by an air weapon.

Chief Inspector Brian Kearney said: “Whilst we fully appreciate the significant concerns of any parent whose young child is in a car when such damage is caused, from enquiries to date there is no evidence to suggest that the damage was caused by an air weapon.

"CCTV footage has been viewed and we are investigating the possibility that the damage may have been caused by a chipping impacting the windscreen.”
