BEAUMARIS is forging new links with its namesake town in Australia.
As part of the Australia Links project, connections have been rekindled between Beaumaris, Anglesey and Beaumaris,Victoria.
Liz Millman, a member of Bangor Rotary Club, regularly visits her family in Melbourne and made contact with the Australian Beaumaris Rotary Club.
It resulted in a revival of the Beaumaris, Anglesey/Beaumaris, Victoria link, which was originally set up in 2000.
The new interest resulted in a celebration of ‘Australia Day,’ held at Beaumaris Town Hall, on January 26, 2018. Many people from Wales have emigrated to Australia over the years.
The township of Beaumaris, in Victoria, is now part of the City of Bayside and its mayor, Laurence Evans, whose own Welsh family emigrated there, is keen to encourage friendship.
A coffee morning, is being held, from 10.30am to noon, at Jolly’s Café, Castle Street, Beaumaris, on Friday, April 27.
