WOMEN living in Caernarfon and the surrounding area are being encouraged to kick-start the New Year by signing up to take part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

The Race for Life 5k event will be held at Coed Helen Recreation Ground on Sunday, May 20.

Throughout the month of January, women will be offered 30% off entry fees for 5k, 10k, Pretty Muddy, Pretty Muddy Kids, Half Marathon and Hike events.

By signing up to Race for Life right now, women in Caernarfon will make a real difference in the fight against cancer. Money raised will help Cancer Research UK scientists find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease, helping save more lives.

Polly O’Gorman, Cancer Research UK’s Event Manager, said: “January is the perfect time for women to commit to getting a little more active in 2018 by signing up for Race for Life and taking on a new fitness challenge.

“For those who need some extra encouragement to get moving, Race for Life offers the ultimate motivation, because by taking part and raising money, participants will be helping to fund vital cancer research.

"It’s time to mark the New Year and make a resolution to remember. By joining like-minded ladies committed to the cause, local women can unite against a disease that affects us all in some way.”

Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work relies on the public’s support.

Thanks to the generosity of its supporters, the charity was able to spend over £28million last year in the North West on some of the UK’s leading scientific and clinical research - helping more men, women and children survive.
