FAST-GROWING Cheshire and North Wales transport firm Delivery Solutions – Delsol – has invested £250,000 on building a new warehouse to extend its Sandycroft depot.

The firm, a pallet and parcel specialist operating same day, overnight and international delivery and collection services, has invested in expanding its base to help meet rising demand and accommodate future growth.

The company, which was founded by co-directors Simon Walker and Tony Parry in Bethesda in 1999, is currently on target to increase turnover by a further 20 per cent this year.

Tony said the new investment, which comes off the back of £1m worth of investments in the last three years, included a £125,000 loan from Barclays Corporate.

“We are very excited about this expansion and very grateful to Barclays for its support,” he said.

“Just two years ago we doubled the size of our Deeside depot to 50,000 sq ft by buying land and buildings adjacent to our Glendale Business Park site.

“Now, we are set to add a further 10,000 sq ft warehouse. The additional space will be used for transhipment to and from our collection and trunk vehicles to accommodate the rising number of pallets despatched from our customer base across North Wales, Chester and the Wirral.

“The new warehouse will help us continue to provide a first-class service to our customers, to capitalise on the increasing number of Internet sales and to target further sustainable growth.”

Delsol, which employs more than 100 staff, has enjoyed rapid growth in recent years and now runs a fleet of more than 70 vehicles, including motorcycles, modern delivery vans and   tail-lift equipped trucks.

The firm operates from sites in Sandycroft and Caernarfon.

Tony said plans are already in place for further investment as the company continues to record impressive year-on-year turnover figures.

Gary Fletcher, Barclays relationship director, said: “SMEs are the lifeblood of our economy and we have worked closely with Delsol to understand the complexity of their business and support their expansion plans.

“Barclays is committed to using our industry expertise and specialists to support such propositions, which enable local businesses like Delsol to compete and win new business, creating jobs and delivering real benefits to the local economy.

“This is a well-managed business always ready to evolve and invest for future prosperity. Funding is readily available for propositions such as this.”
