AN INSPIRED young girl from Anglesey has raised £804 for the Help for Heroes charity by climbing up Snowdon.

Eight-year-old Hannah Nicol from Menai Bridge took on the mammoth challenge on Tuesday, June 12.

Her mum, Amy Nicol, says that she had been wanting to climb the mountain for quite some time.

"Hannah loves the outdoors and challenging herself," she said.

"After learning about Help for Heroes, she wanted to raise money and awareness for the charity."

During her epic climb to the summit, Hannah was accompanied by her mum, as well as Help for Heroes local volunteer co-ordinator for Anglesey Dave Owen and family friend Ollie Zalot.

"I'm so incredibly proud of her, she is such a strong and inspirational little lady," Mum Amy said.

"Helping other is just something that she really enjoys doing and managing to raise so much money for Help for Heroes is astonishing."

Hannah has received messages of support from and congratulations from all over the world for her unselfish efforts.

Mark Ormrod became the first surviving British triple amputee during the conflict in Afghanistan while serving as a Royal Marines Commando on Christmas Eve 2007.

After hearing of Hannah's fundraising efforts, he sent her a video message to thank her on behalf of Help for Heroes.

"Congratulations on conquering Snowdon, that is an awesome effort and you should be very proud of yourself," he said.

"I just wanted to say thank you for your hard work."

Mum Amy says that Hannah can’t wait to take on even more fundraising challenges in the near future and thanked family members and those who donated to her cause for their support.
