FIVE men from Anglesey collectively known as "The Beardy Bikers" have raised £2300 for the Welsh Air Ambulance charity thanks to a five day bike ride.

David Roberts, Meurig Roberts, Iolo Roberts, Selwyn Hughes and Thomas Williams travelled 250 miles from Holyhead to Cardiff along Lon Las Cymru.

The group of friends, who are in all in their sixties, set off from the Admiralty Arch in Holyhead and finished at the end of the Taffs Trail in Cardiff Bay.

When they arrived at the finish line, a crowd of family and friends and Air Ambulance Wales personnel were waiting to greet them.

"The Beardy Bikers Big Adventure" as group members have called it, has collected just over £2300 so far and they are still accepting donations to their cause.

Following the once in a lifetime experience, group member Meurig Roberts said: "Whilst the trip was very difficult at times, we did have a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

"We enjoyed beautiful weather and scenery - and suffered just the one puncture to repair along the whole journey!"

The Beardy Bikers have thanked all the people who contributed towards their challenging fundraiser and the money will now be put towards the Air Ambulance Wales charity.
