BANGOR neighbours came together to enjoy an afternoon of sunshine, friendship and food.

About 30 people from the Y Bae and Garth areas of the town joined together to take part in the The Big Lunch (Y Cinio Mawr) event.

The Big Lunch is an Eden Project initiative held across the UK, and which started over 10 years ago, to bring communities together.

It is held on the first Sunday in June and nationwide it is estimated that nine million people came together in 2017.

Organiser Sue Jones said: "We had glorious sunshine and it was a big success! It was fantastic to see people making new friends as well as re-acquainting themselves with old ones, some of whom hadn't even realised they were neighbours.

"Everybody brought food to share, plus a few chairs and tables, and just joined in with the fun. It was relatively easy to organise and we were so lucky with the weather. This will definitely be an annual event from now on."
