A VICTIM of an attack in a Bangor bar sustained several fractures of the skull and also a bleed, magistrates have been told.

Jamie Edwards, 25, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Mr Jack Middlehurst in December.

He was sent for sentence to Caernarfon crown court where he will appear on May 4.

Prosecuting at Llandudno court on Friday, Diane Williams said the attack happened in a bar. The victim had his hands in his pockets and fell to the floor after being punched.

Mrs Williams said the defendant had previous convictions for violence.

She said Edwards, “advertising himself as a boxing instructor,” was under investigation for an alleged similar attack a few days ago.

Deborah Davies, defending, said mitigating circumstances would be explained to the crown court. She added: “There is no application for bail. He is very realistic about what is going to happen in the crown court - he might as well start serving his time now.”

A pre-sentence report was ordered. Court chairwoman Jean Bryson told Edwards magistrates agreed it was a case for the crown court. “Our sentencing powers would be insufficient,” she explained.
