MOELFRE RNLI assisted in the rescue mission of a kayaker over the weekend.

The crew and the Coastguard were dispatched at 12.35pm on Sunday (January 28) to help a man who was suffering from hypothermia after getting into difficulty off the coast.

Holyhead Coastguard had received a 999 call from a member of the public reporting the sighting of a kayaker who had set off some orange smoke.

The man was said to be a "long way out" to sea towards Ynys Dulas.

He had been suffering the effects of the cold and had swallowed sea water.

The All Weather Lifeboat recovered the kayaker and took them to the boat house where they were taken care of until the Welsh ambulance Service arrived.

Once the man had been checked over, it was decided that he did not need to go to the hospital.
