Ieuan Wyn Jones will hold an open surgery in the Bull Hotel, Llangefni on Friday, September 5, for anyone who has had problems with broadband internet access on the Island.
He is likely to be inundated with complaints from people who have experi
enced problems logging on to the super-highway.
Vivien Staddon is a technician for Compuservice in Holyhead and says she is well aware of the problems with Anglesey's broadband.
"Rhoscolyn is a really bad area and a lot of our customers have put a petition together to try and get it improved," she said. "It seems like the further people are from the local exchange the worse the wiring is and it can't handle the braodband.
"The wires are in ditches there (in Rhoscolyn) and the service goes off when it rains and because we've had such a terrible summer they have been off-line for most of the year."
In June, the Chronicle published a letter from Alun Fred Jones AM asking people with this problem to write to him.
Ieuan Wyn Jones AM said he received many complaints from Penmon to Holyhead about services going slow and freezing.
"I have recently been approached by several constituents who have experienced problems with broadband internet access in Anglesey, and in order to take the matter further, I am anxious to get a clearer picture of what the problems are, and which areas of Anglesey are affected," said Mr Jones.
"I will therefore be holding an open drop-in surgery regarding this matter in the Bull Hotel in Llangefni on Friday, and I would be grateful if constituents would call in to discuss any broadband difficulties they have experienced."
A spokesman for BT in Cardiff, Chris Orum, said he had not heard of any problems being experienced with the broadband service on Anglesey.
"Every exchange in Wales is broadband enabled but there are various factors that can affect the service," said Mr Orum.
"One is the distance that people are away from the exchange and that is just down to the laws of physics.
"The actual technology is up to a point distance dependant .
"There is a chance that if you are 10km (of wiring) from an exchange it won't work," he added.
