AN ELEVENTH hour cancellation of this weekend's Anglesey Motorbike Show could cost the event's organiser £20,000.
An "air of secrecy" surrounds the decision to cancel the show which was due to be held at Mona over this Bank Holiday weekend.
The show's organiser Steve Bennett said he received an email on Friday evening from a solicitor acting for Anglesey Show Ground telling him his three-day-event was off.
Mr Bennett said he could lose his home, in Nant Y Moel, mid-Wales, because his house was used to secure funds for the show.
"They said that the police had advised them that there is a heightened risk of serious public disorder at the event," said Mr Bennett, who was expecting 3,000 visitors at the show.
"But we've been doing this for nine years and we have never called the police to any of our shows.
"We're talking about an event where kids can bring their quads and mini motors and we give them an area to play in," he said.
Mr Bennett had paid a £1,500 deposit to rent the Anglesey Show Ground, a further £8,000 was set aside for sound and light crews and £5,000 on bands.
In addition, to the music he had also spent £4,500 on bookings for the comedy club which was hosting three to four comedians each night.
A spokesman for Anglesey Show Ground said he was unable to comment because of the confidential nature of the matter.
Mr Bennett criticised North Wales Police for not qualifying their reasons for recommending a cancellation without hard evidence.
He said he was considering legal action to recoup his losses as he had only been given four-and-half days notice to tell everyone involved in the show that it was off.
Mr Bennett, who works as a security guard earning £5.80 per hour, said he expected to lose in the region of £20,000.
"I will have to set up a legal fund to fight this because my bank accounts will be frozen," said Mr Bennett.
A North Wales Police spokesman said he was unable to comment at this time but a statement is being prepared.
