POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two ATM machines were attacked in Upper Bangor this morning (Friday).

Officers were alerted to the incident at Morrisons store on Holyhead Road, shortly after 4.20am.

Several attempts were reportedly made to break into both machines.

Inquiries to trace the offender/s are ongoing, involving a high police presence on routes in North Wales, as well as the use of the NWP helicopter.

Crime Scene Investigators have been called to the scene and CCTV is also being studied as part of the investigation.

A black Mitsubishi Evo (Evolution) has been seen in the area being driven erratically and police are keen to trace this vehicle and speak to its occupants in a bid to eliminate them from the inquiry.

An appeal is being made to anyone who has information regarding the incident or who may have witnessed the offence to contact detectives immediately on 0845 6071001 (Welsh language line) or 0845 6071002 (English language line) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
