AN appeal to raise £100,000 is being launched by Salisbury and South Wilts Sports Club.

The club recently gained planning permission for a new pavilion on its Wilton Road site The project, which has taken nine years to get to this point, will cost more than £1million. It is hoped work will start next year and be completed by 2011.

Spokesman Howard George said: “We have already been very successful in receiving funding from Sport England, the local council and others, but desperately need £100,000 to front load the project.

“This pavilion will transform the present site into a first class sports venue for south Wiltshire.

“We are looking for donations from special people who can envisage how the new pavilion will transform the venue for future generations of young and old sportsmen and women in our local community.”

Anyone interested is invited to a reception at the club on November 19 at 7pm when chairman Peter Curtis will give a presentation about the plans and answer questions.
