POLICE who swooped on a number of properties last night say the anti-drugs raids were a success.

A series of drugs warrants were executed at addresses across south Wrexham.

Speaking to the Leader outside a semi-detached house in Rhos where a man had been arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs, Insp Iwan Jones said: “I am very pleased with the results we are achieving tonight.

“There has been an initial search at this property. The drugs dog has been called for and we are currently awaiting its arrival.

“Then when finished here it will go to other addresses through the night where it is appropriate to do so.”

Insp Jones, of North Wales Police, said the operation had taken months to plan and the co-ordinated night’s work involved the input of more than 20 officers including special constables. “So far we have had four positive results for the warrants,” he said.

“This does take a lot of time, but getting these drugs off our streets is certainly worth it. We are stopping the distribution chain and this is ongoing.

“The operation has been carried out in response to information and feedback which we have been receiving from members of the public. We do not tolerate drug supply or use in the community. That is the clear message.”

Great stuff....good to see the police taking out the suppliers of the most devastating and destructive substance that can cause misery to the entire community

Whilst agreeing with Tony's sentiments I ask can the war on drugs be won? Criminals are in charge of the drug manufacture, supply and marketing. I bet what is reported in the Leader is the tip of the iceberg. Have you seen the market for "hydroponics" on that famous auction site. Someone mention speed cameras.............not around here.

How many violent incidents could be avoided if the police tackled the misuse of anabolic steroids? They seem to turn a blind eye to the problem yet they're widely available in every gym across the country.
