RHAYADER Town remained in the relegation doldrums with a heavy defeat at home to Llangefni Town.
Player-manager Dylan McPhee also saw his woes deepen with injuries sustained by Robbie Steele and new signing Glenn Evans.
“Perhaps the final score was a little harsh” said McPhee, currently sidelines with a knee injury.
“In the end we had to put midfielders in central defence and ultimately were punished by a quality visiting side.”
The Islanders broke the deadlock on 22 minutes with Lee Craven firing home Steve Kehoe’s right wing cross.
However the Red Kites were handed a route back into the game before half-time when midfield lynchpin Craig Hutchinson saw red for an x-rated lunge on Steele.
Ollie Richards fired wide in a rare Rhayader opening, before 10 man Llangefni doubled their lead on 52 minutes.
Dangerman Darren Thomas swung over a dangerous free-kick for Mike Robinson to head home.
Llangefni completed their comfortable victory with two goals in the final five minutes with Marc Evans steering home a Tom Dix cross on 86 minutes.
With two minutes remaining Rhayader were caught napping as Llangefni broke with pace for Thomas to volley home a deserved fourth.
