MOUNTAIN rescuers battled high winds to rescue a man from a Snowdonia peak this weekend.
A 24-year-old man from Chester fell and injured his back on Glyder Fach on Saturday.
The injury made it too difficult to carry on walking so friends called for help.
Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team and RAF mountain rescue attended the incident straight after rescuing another casualty on Bwlch Tryfan.
The RAF Valley Squadron 22 helicopter also attended the scene but due to cloud and high winds, it landed about 500 metres from the casualty.
Rescuers from the Ogwen Valley team and RAF managed to take the man by stretcher to the helicopter before conditions on the mountain deteriorated further.
Sgt Ian Jones from the RAF team who attended the incident said: “Three members of the RAF were training in the area and when members of the Ogwen team saw the vehicle they asked if we could assist. We then got authority to step in and help.
“It was a suspected lower back or pelvic injury but it turned out to be just a badly bruised pelvis.”
The man was then flown to Gwynedd Hospital in Bangor.
