A FORMER racing driver from Wrexham claims he knows the identity of Top Gear’s famous masked track ace, The Stig.
And James Baker says he will be revealing all in Wrexham General Market on bank holiday Monday.
The Stig is brought in to do the most dangerous stunts and driving on the smash-hit BBC show.
But his secret identity has been kept strictly under wraps since 2003, adding an air of mystery to the show.
The battle to unmask him took a new twist earlier this week when publisher Harper Collins and the BBC became locked in a legal battle over a book that claims to reveal his identity, with both sides appearing in London's High Court on Monday.
Now James Baker has roared into the controversy with his claim he has evidence of who The Stig really is.
James, 33, raced professionally for a number of years and his career peaked when he drove in Formula Honda in 2002.
He claims he met the man behind the darkened helmet a number of times on the national racing circuit.
He said: “On bank holiday Monday I will be having a display about The Stig – and his real identity – on one of the stalls at the market.
“The display will detail who he is, the evidence for this, such as the report from Richard Hammond’s crash, and general information about him from the show.
“It is being given to the market traders as a gift to help encourage people to come into the market, especially on bank holiday.”
