POLICE are hunting for as hoodie wearing man who entered a bank in Machynlleth on Monday and demanded cash.
The man, described as being in his late teen to early 20s, walked into NatWest Bank, on Maengwyn Street, Machynlleth, demanded cash and was threatening towards staff.
No one was injured, no weapon was used, and the man left empty handed after staff called for assistance.
Staff at the branch were shaken and alarmed after the incident but unhurt.
Guesthouses, hotels and campsites in Powys are now being warned to be on the lookout for the man, who is said to be about six foot tall and of a slim build.
The wanted man has dark hair and dark eyes and possibly a stubble of growth on his chin. During the attempted robbery in Machynlleth he was wearing a grey scarf around his face, blue jeans and a dark coloured hoodie.
He is described as having an English accent.
A spokesperson for Dyfed Powys Police said: “There is a potential that the man was a visitor to the area and may have arranged accommodation locally. The police would ask that the owners of camp sites, bed and breakfast establishments or similar consider the description and contact the police with any relevant information.
“The police ask that anyone who was in the area and who saw someone matching this description or who have any information that might assist the enquiry are asked to contact Newtown CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
