Our new columnist Stan The Fan has his say on the week's burning issues...
DEAN SAUNDERS had admitted himself that this is a season where he and his team must perform - or else!!!
Geoff Moss’ loyalty to Wrexham’s ex-Liverpool striker must be applauded but how many times have Wrexham followed a brilliant result with an embarrassingly horrible one.
A 3-0 defeat at Forest Green Rovers, who shouldn’t have been in the Conference this season and are firm favourites not to be in it the next time around, is not the result Reds’ fans wanted or expected!
In no way am I suggesting drastic measures at The Racecourse but why are Wrexham so good at being the kings of consistent inconsistency?
The fans have been asking these questions for years but unfortunately they’ve been getting the same good game/bad game response from Saunders and his ever-changing playing personnel.
The positive for Wrexham is that they’ve got a game at Eastbourne on Saturday to prove that Tuesday night at The New Lawn was a blip, a one-off!
Eastbourne may have other ideas and the Reds’ fans who are making a weekend of it down on the south coast, watch out for striker Richard Pacquette.
The former QPR man was rated as one of the best young strikers in London 10 years ago. He’s fallen off the map in recent times but maybe this is the season he rediscovers himself.
That happens to so many footballers, especially outside the glamour of the Premier League.
The cash that is being thrown around is ludicrous when you consider the country’s gripped by recession.
It didn’t do Manchester City much good as they were blown apart by Spurs. And further down the footballing spectrum, Neath came a cropper too as they were beaten by Nev Powell’s Bangor City.
Powell’s done a tremendous job at Farrar Road. He wins the Welsh Cup every year and maybe in the new-look Welsh Premier League set-up, Bangor could be the ones to oust The New Saints and Llanelli.
Anyway, I’m going to test your football knowledge and see if you can beat me in Stan the Fan’s Top Ten predictions.
