It was another successful year for A Level students across Anglesey and Gwynedd.
Anglesey students achieve a pass rate of 98.4 per cent while 97.7 per cent of Gwynedd students achieved a passing grade.
Both were higher than the national average of 97.7 per cent.
Gwynedd Council's head of Education Dewi R Jones said that 23 per cent of students achieved the new A* grade.
"Also encouraging is the fact that the A-E percentage is 100% in a significant number of subjects across the schools," he said.
"This underlines the performance and success of all of our young people in the examinations."
73.7 per cent of students achieved A-C across all subjects while more than 70 per cent achieved the same grades in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Art, History, English and Welsh.
88 per cent of AS Level students in Gwynedd achieved A-E compared to the 86.9 per cent national average.
22.9 per cent of Anglesey students achieved A-C grades while 7.1 percent gained the new A* grade. 87.6 per cent of AS Level students achieved pass grades.
Anglesey Council’s director of education Richard Parry Jones added: “I would like to thank the schools and the teachers for heir hard work and professionalism, the students for their efforts and the parents for their constant support.”
Coleg Menai in Bangor celebrated a 100 per cent pass rate in all subjects.
Laura Samuel, 18 from of Holyhead got A* grades chemistry, biology and maths.
Catrin Elin Williams,of Penygroes, celebrated her 18th birthday with four grade B results in mathematics, biology, psychology and photography.
She will leave for Guyana next week to spend a year teaching maths and science to youngsters.
Ysgol Friars, Bangor, headteacher Neil Foden said that pupils had exceeded predictions with most students achieving A-C grades.
He said. "This year has been one of the best we've ever had.
"In a time when there is such competition for places it's fantastic that many of our students have achieved the grades needed to secure university places, and the grades of those who do will give them an advantage."
Gwynedd Council leader Dyfed Edwards added:"These excellent results are testament to the hard work and dedication of our young people, teachers and parents - the success of our young people is key to Gwynedd's future.
"I would like to congratulate every one of the young people for their hard work and success, and in particular to those who have achieved their potential. We wish them every success for the future."
Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones Amlwch students had another good year.
Bleddyn Môn achieved A* in mathematics, design and technology and in Physics. He will study engineering at Southampton University.
Clare Marie Pritchard got an A* in business studies and A grades in in ICT and A in religious studies.
Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones head added: "Once again this year Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones students have gained excellent results in their A level examinations and as a school we are all extremely proud of their achievements.
"All the hard work by the students under the guidance of their dedicated teachers has paid off with some exceptional performances by individuals."
