A WOMAN had to be rescued after she became lost in dense cloud on a mountain in Snowdonia.

Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue spokesman Chris Lloyd said that the woman, 39 and of London, had set off to climb the north ridge of Tryfan at 6.30am yesterday but was disorientated at due to the conditions at around 10.15am.

“She had lost confidence to carry on or return the way she had come and she felt it was safer to get someone from her location because that mountain is responsible for a high percentage of our rescues.”

The RAF Valley Mountain Rescue Team joined Ogwen Valley team members and the Search and Rescue Dog Association (SARDA) on the search.

The woman was found at 1.15pm by a SARDA dog handler on the eastern traverse in the north gully of the mountain.

She was roped to the top of the ridge and walked to safety down the western gully.
Chris said that the rescue meant that Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team were called out for 12th consecutive days.

“It’s definitely putting a strain on the team,” he said. “There has generally been a high percentage of injuries as well.”
