Bangor City 1 CS Maritimo 2 (Maritimo win 10-3 agg)

BANGOR City’s Europa League legends went down fighting against CS Maritimo at the Racecourse.

After upsetting the odds against FC Honka and becoming the first Welsh side ever to make the third qualifying round of this competition, Nev Powell’s Blues suffered an 8-2 hiding in Funchal last week.

However last night (Thurs) City went ahead against their Liga Sagres opponents through a tenth minute goal from Alan Bull, his first strike since making his move from Cammell Laird permanent.

The Blues went in ahead at the interval only to see Adilson and Lubel Marquinho overturn their advantage during a 12 minute spell in the second half.

However despite the 10-3 aggregate score Bangor exit the competition with their heads held high and can now focus on the Welsh Premier League.
