FOUR people were rescued by a lifeboat crew after their speed boat’s engine failed off the coast of Anglesey.

The Moelfre RNLI Inshore Lifeboat launched on Saturday to help crew of a 16ft speed boat two miles off shore.

Moelfre RNLI spokesman Dave Massey said that the crew were not properly equipped to be at sea.

“The speed boat’s crew didn’t have life jackets and our message is that anyone who goes out to sea on a boat should be wearing one,” he said. “A mobile phone is not recommended because the signal can easily be lost. With a VHF radio, immediate assistance can always be requested.”

The Moelfre RNLI Inshore Lifeboat towed the boat and its crew, from Stockport, into Traeth Bychan.
