A CABARET evening on Anglesey will be headlined by a familiar funnyman from yesteryear.

Stan Boardman will appear at a comedy night at Holyhead Town Hall on Friday, July 16.

Round table spokesman Colin Bell was delighted to welcome Stan back after a his last charity performance on Holyhead five years ago.

“It’s a bit of a coup,” he said. “When Stan last did a gig for us it went down really well and he has put us in touch with comedians like Jimmy Cricket who have since performed for us.”

The former haulage contractor hit the big time on Opportunity Knocks and became a fixture on The Comedians in the 1970s.

Stan has since appeared on a host of programmes including the Des O’Connor Show and Celebrity Wife Swap.

He is famous for his jokes about the Germans bombing his chippy in the Second World War and fans of traditional stand up are sure to enjoy the set.

Popular comedian Tudur Owen will take a break from the hotseat of his S4C chat show to compere the evening.

Colin added: “We’ve done a few comedy nights with Tudur so we thought we’d bring the two together.”

The event is one of three fundraising events this summer with a seven-a-side football tournament at Millbank on Saturday, June 26 and a clay pigeon shoot at Presaddfed, Bodedern on Saturday, August 14.

The night will also feature live music.

All profits from the event will be donated to good causes through Holyhead & District Round Table’s charitable fund.

Tickets are £15 and the doors will open at 7.30pm. For tickets and further details visit www.holyheadroundtable.com or contact Alan on 07776476945.
