ART students from Anglesey and Gwynedd celebrated the end of term with an exhibition of their work.

Coleg Menai art and design department’s summer exhibition opened on Friday at their Parc Menai site.

Assembly Member for Arfon Alun Ffred Jones opened the exhibition and was impressed by the work on display.

“I’m extremely proud that the highest standard of training is available here in Gwynedd and the North West,” he said. “I hope that many students will, in time, set up businesses in the area and use their creativity to benefit the community in general.”

140 students showed work including sculpture, fine art , photography, fashion and jewellery in a “secret sale” where all works are anonymous.

All proceeds from sales will be reinvested into the art and design course.

Five students were recognised at the opening for their achievements during their time at Coleg Menai.

Sadie Williams, of Llangefni, received the award for Student of the Year - Outstanding Progress.

Charles Neal, of Mynydd Llandegai, and Gemma Bourne, of Llanrug, received Student of the Year - Oustanding Achievement awards.

The exhibition is open until from 10am-4pm (Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday) and 10am-7pm on Tuesdays until June 18.
