RADIO STARS Chris Moyles and Greg James continued their tour of the Bangor area on Wednesday.

After completing their morning and afternoon broadcasts, the breakfast team and lunchtime DJ James enjoyed a spot of boat racing courtesy of Royal Anglesey Yacht Club.

The group split into four teams for their race, with new-girl sports presenter Tina Deheley finishing in first place, closely followed by producer Aled and breakfast team fall-guy Matt Fincham, with Comedy Dave and Dom, sailing as ‘Floatface’, in third.

DJ’s Chris and Greg finished in last place, with the morning DJ joking that their sailing chaperone was to blame for their poor finish.

“Our guy was rubbish - he was saying we got off to a bad start,” he said.

He also indicated that the team were enjoying their stay in Bangor, ready for the start of the festival this weekend.

He said: “We’ve managed to get out and about a bit, so far so good - it’s been really good.”

Aled meanwhile said it was his favourite event that the team had enjoyed in North Wales so far, in what has so far been a successful visit to the region.

“We’ve done Lisbon, New York, Los Angeles... and Bangor!,” he said.

And Greg James, who will be enjoying his first Big Weekend festival as a daytime DJ, said it was a pleasure to meet Radio 1 fans in and around Bangor.

“It’s been great; we usually sit in a windowless basement all the time, so its amazing to get out and meet people who love Radio 1,” he said.

The team later visited Farrar Road to watch a specially arranged charity match between Bangor City FC and the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in aid of the Help For Heroes charity.

And the group then took part in a penalty shoot-out competition at half time, with joker Moyles getting a laugh out of the crowd with his poorly taken penalty.

The team now have a couple of days left to enjoy the sights of North Wales before the Big Weekend kicks off on Saturday afternoon.

Chris added: “It’s been a great week.

“I’m looking forward to Dizzie, Pendulum, Faithless, and of course Justin Bieber.”
