Man dies after 300 ft fall in Snowdonia

A MAN died after falling almost 300 ft from a mountain in Snowdonia.

The man, who was in his 60s, fell from Cwm Cneifion in the Ogwen Valley at 3.00 on Saturday afernoon.

He was out scrambling with an organised group and was an experienced climber.

Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team was in the area dealing with another incident when the alarm was raised at 3,30pm and alerted rescue helicopter from RAF Valley on Anglesey.

He was airlifted to hospital in Bangor but was later pronounced dead..

North Wales Police have begun an investigation into the man's death.

His family have been informed.
