Detectives pleased with response to Doreen Morris Crimewatch appeal

OFFICERS say that they have received a good response from a TV appeal for information into the murder of an Anglesey pensioner.

Detectives investigation the murder of 64-year-old Doreen Morris said that they have received a number of calls after a reconstruction on the BBC Crimewatch programme.

Detective Chief Inspector John Hanson, of North Wales Police's major incident team said: "We got a good response from the broadcast with a number of people calling in to provide us with information.

"I’d like to thank members of the public who tuned into Crimewatch and picked up the phone.

He added: "As a result, we will be carrying out a number of actions to further the enquiry."

Mrs Morris' skeletal remains were discovered after a fire at her home on Mill Lane in Holyhead in 1994.

The reconstruction revealed that Mrs Morris had been stabbed with a fork before the house was set alight.

A £100,000 reward is on offer to anyone with information which will lead to the arrest, charge and conviction of Mrs Morris’ killer(s).

Posters have also been distributed in shops and cafes by the Neighbourhood Policing Team in and more than 11,500 leaflets have been distributed in the area by Royal Mail.

DCI Hanson added: "I would still like to urge to anyone who may have information to contact us.

The investigation has not and will not close until it is resolved, and we can offer support and protection to anyone who has information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of Doreen Morris’ killers."
