SWEEPING Welsh landscapes painted by a local artist are causing a stir at a Conwy art gallery.

Local artist Malcolm Edward has been bucking the economic trend at the Royal Cambrian Academy gallery with his work selling wildly since opening in Easter.

The breath-taking works of art in his exhibition ‘Brogarwch – a Love for my Land’ which runs at the RCA until May 23, has also been enjoying high footfall from art aficianados wanting to get a glimpse of the local talent.

Malcolm Edwards is a prolific, popular and highly admired painter, with his works now hanging in many public and private collections all over Wales and the UK. Exhibiting throughout the year at the Royal Cambrian Academy, his works regularly captivate the viewers.

Solitary ruins, dwellings, and farms sit within his paintings, and when he brings a new piece to adorn the gallery walls there is usually a race to see who can find the minute farmer and sheepdog hidden within the landscape.

The beauty of Malcolm’s watercolour paintings is the revealing aspects - there is always something to discover. Scraggy trees, razor-sharp cliffs, lonely walkways, faraway waterfalls and roaming sheep hide within.
