PLANS for a multi-milliion pound development that could be bring up to 450 jobs to Anglesey have been deferred.

The application seeks consent for a 110,000 sq ft office and warehouse development at Parc Cybi in Holyhead was deferred by an Anglesey Council planning committee.

A spokesman for developers Conygar Investment Company said: “We are obviously disappointed that we have not received planning consent as we had plans to contact those parties who had shown an interest in taking space in the development and therefore creating much needed employment.

That will now all have to be put on hold until we hopefully receive consent, all be it we do not know when it will be.”

The application seeks permission for three two storey office buildings at the entrance of the Parc four industrial warehousing/distribution units.

The development is the first proposed development for the £13m Welsh Assembly strategic regeneration site.

Conygar Chief Executive Robert Ware said: “We believe that this initial development could cater, depending on the user mix, for up to 450 jobs and will be the catalyst to further interest and development at the Parc.”

He added that development would strengthen the attraction of Holyhead to the logistic industry that Conygar would investigate the possibility of refrigerated storage and bonded warehousing if consent is granted.

The planning committee deferred the plans at a meeting on April 7 due to rules stating any development which would create more than 200 jobs must be approved by the full council.

Councillor Cliff Everett added: “I am 100 per cent behind the development. It is a good idea that will create jobs for Holyhead and that is something that we really need.”
