HAVING already clinched a number of coveted UK beauty prizes, Llanymynech’s Jamie Williams now has her heart set on the elusive Miss Wales title.
In 2006 the 24-year-old blonde came third in Miss Wales but since then she has gone on to be crowned Miss Earth, Miss Beauty Queen and Miss British Isles.
And now Jamie, a teaching assistant for children with learning disabilities at a school in Ruyton XI Towns, Shropshire, is hoping it’s second time lucky as she aims to take the Miss Wales crown and represent her country in the Miss World finals.
“Since entering Miss Wales I have been fortunate enough to win a number of prestigious titles but what I really want to do is represent Wales in Miss World,” said Jamie, a psychology graduate.
But if Jamie’s dream is to be realised it has to happen this year... before she is deemed ‘too old’.
“In May this year I will turn 25 and no longer able to enter the competition. I would love to reach Miss Wales, and ultimately Miss World, and am going to give it my best shot,” she added.
“I know a couple of girls who have entered the competition for a second time and went on to win so hopefully I can follow suit, but on the flip side I also know girls who have entered three or four times and not even get placed.
“Hopefully I will be the former but you just never know, the competition is always really strong in Wales.”
For now though Jamie, Mid Wales’ most notable beauty queen of recent years, has to concentrate on being named Miss Powys so she can reach the next step of her dream.
At the moment she is in the semi-final of Miss Powys – to be named as one of three girls to reach the final she needs to secure the text votes of the public.
