Man died after fall outside Holyhead supermarket

AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a Holyhead man who died after falling outside a Lidl store on Anglesey.

David Raymond Davis, 61, of Holyhead, was discovered by staff in the supermarket car park and was taken by air ambulance to Ysbyty Gwynedd on Saturday.

However the former Holyhead Town U16 coach he died in hospital the following morning and is believed to have succumbed to a head injury.

Lidl spokesman Marco Ivone said: “I can confirm that there was no ice in the car park when the incident occurred at our Holyhead Store.

“An investigation is currently being carried out and should the investigation show that any further action is required, this will be acted on immediately.”

The supermarket are liaising with the local environmental health officer for an investigation into the tragic incident.
