AN ANGLESEY businessman said thieves who took more than £30,000 of equipment and stock from bis storage depot had dealt his business a huge blow.
Padraig Huws said raiders stole a Land Rover and thousands of pounds worth of tools from the Par Contractors depot in Llanbedrgoch.
“To break into somewhere in the middle of the night when people are sleeping is a very cowardly thing to do,” he said.
“It makes you think: will they break into your house next?”
The thieves made off with the red Land Rover 90, which was later found burnt out in Rhosmeirch.
Their haul also include a pallet of the Anglesey-produced vodka, Toffoc, worth around £15,000
Also stolen were were an MIG Welder, a Teng tool set; a booster road start pack; a Makita cordless power drill and a small Stihl chain saw.
Mr Huws walked the 100 yards from his farmhouse to the depot in the early hours of February 12 to discover the doors open and his property gone.
Par Contractors, co-owned by Dewi Roberts, specialise in waste disposal, plant hire and installing septic tanks and employs five members of staff.
Mr Huws added that the company would continue trading despite the set backs posed by four break ins in the last three years.
“Things are very tough for every business at the moment - there’s nothing but costs,” he said.
“But you have you try to carry on, because you wouldn’t have any work otherwise.”
Anyone with information in relation to this incident, or anybody who may know the whereabouts of the stolen tools is urged to contact officers at Llangefni CID on 101, or 0845 607 1001 (Welsh), 0845 6071002 (English) or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
