SEARCHES for a Flintshire pensioner who has been missing for more than a week have been called off.

North Wales Police say they have 'suspended' the hunt for 68-year-old Pauline Edwards, from Buckley, who disappeared on February 5.

She was reported missing by her husband John after she failed to return to their holiday home in Trefor, near Caernarfon, after a walk.

More than 200 people were involved in large-scale searches over the weekend, but no trace of Mrs Edwards was found.

Insp Mark Armstrong, who is leading the operation, said:  “Search teams have now exhausted all potential avenues, and the searches have been suspended for the time being pending further information resulting from police inquiries.

“Despite thorough land and sea searches over the weekend we still have no clue as to Mrs Edwards’ whereabouts.

“The situation is under constant review and we will continue to have a police presence in Trefor with officers conducting foot patrols around the village.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are still appealing to anybody who may have seen Mrs Edwards, or a woman of a similar description to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call North Wales Police in 0845 607 1002.
