PERFORMERS in Amlwch are showing their community spirit in a theatre production that opens next week.

The Amlwch Showstoppers’ original performance of “The Legend of Robbie Nud” has been put together by local young people and volunteers.

The community group want to paint a more wholesome picture of young people than the recent “hoodie” culture, as the show’s organiser Helen Parry explains.

“We want to get away from teen yobs, and show people that they have something to give” she said.

“We are all voluntarily run, open to new members, and are about enhancing confidence and giving opportunities to improving their sense of self esteem and see how valuable the youth in the community is.”

The 45 strong cast, with ages ranging from 5 years old upwards, are putting the show on for three nights starting on the 29 January.

“We are getting bigger and bigger every year, and its so good to see the young people having such a good time together.

“The show is based on Robin Hood, written for the group about Amlwch community.”

The show has been backed with a grant from Mentor Mon, whilst also recieving support from businesses and individuals in the community.

“We’ve had a lot of support from everyone in the community and we would like to thank them for the support we've had, in particular the Mad Sound and Lighting Company, who have done all the sound and lighting ready for us.”

The show can be seen at the Memorial Hall, Amlwch, at 7pm on Friday,  January 29 and Saturday, January 30, as well as 2pm on Sunday, January 31. Admission: £4 for Adults and £2 for concessions.
