BIBLE LORD, who got his career back on track when winning at Wetherby last month, can launch himself back into the big time tomorrow by landing the £150,000 Paddy Power Gold Cup Chase at Cheltenham.

Trained by Andy Turnell, Bible Lord endured a frustrating time last season, failing to win and ending up on the deck on his last two outings.

His comeback run at Wetherby, however, saw him right back on track. Given a positive and confident ride by Nick Scholfield, Turnell’s new stable jockey, the strapping gelding won a competitive handicap with a bold display of jumping.

He has much more on his plate tomorrow, in a race which features the likes of the promising From Dawn To Dusk, talented Irish raider Tranquil Sea and two live local hopes in According To Pete, trained by Malcolm Jefferson, and the John Quinn-trained Leslingtaylor.

That said, Bible Lord remains a horse of some considerable potential and, if his jumping holds up once more, he looks sure to run a big race.

Cheltenham stages a high-quality card and others to note include the highly-rated Pettifour (1.20), who looks the type to make up into a cracking chaser, and Lie Forrit (3.10), who was an unlucky loser of his latest race at Aintree.

A difference of opinion with Campbell Gillies on the approach the second-last hurdle saw Lie Forrit, who was travelling like a winner at the time, unseat his rider at a critical time of the race.

Compensation awaits him tomorrow with Harry Haynes taking over from Gillies, who remains sidelined as a result of injuries sustained in that fall. Lie Forrit is awarded the nap vote.

Tomorrow’s afternoon Flat action comes from Lingfield, where Rainbow Peak is fancied to continue his unbeaten sequence in the featured £18,000 Betdaq Handicap.

Trained for Peter Savill by Michael Jarvis, Rainbow Peak has won all his three starts at Newbury, Ascot and Kempton.

He faces his toughest test tomorrow, but he is plainly a talented horse with further potential and, with Neil Callan on board, Rainbow Peak should be capable of making it four wins in succession.

Norton trainer Linda Stubbs has good prospects of landing the Betdaq Conditions Stakes with Five Star Junior.

A creditable fourth at Yarmouth on his latest outing two months ago, Five Star Junior will relish the return to this all-weather course where he has scored twice in the past.

Taurus Twins came good in pleasing style at Nottingham on his latest start with Robert Winston in the saddle.

The same combination can follow-up in the Hollow Lane Handicap, perhaps at the main expense of Richard Fahey’s Sunrise Safari.

• Full cards and a preview of Saturday’s Wetherby card will be in tomorrow’s paper.
