POLICE ARE investigating an assault which took place at a football match in Anglesey at the weekend.

Video footage of the incident, during the Amlwch Town-CPD Penrhyndeudraeth match, appears to show a man punch a match official, who is believed to be a teenage boy.

The video went viral on social media, but police have warned against its further circulation as to not prejudice the investigation.

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that we are currently investigating an assault which occurred at Amlwch Town FC’s grounds on Saturday, April 27.

"We can also confirm that we are aware of the footage which is being circulated on social media and ask that people do not share to avoid potentially prejudicing any legal proceedings.

An Amlwch Town spokesperson added: "Given that there are further investigations pending, it would not be appropriate for us to comment at this time.”
