A NEW pharmacy will open on the High Street in Llanberis this October.

This will be Fferyllwyr Llŷn's sixth pharmacy. The new shop will be situated in Brook House.

Fferyllwyr Llŷn plan to open the shop towards the end of the month. In the meantime, until the store is fully operational, the company will be offering a temporary service to drop off and collect prescriptions.

This started on October 2.

Eleri Williams, Pharmacist Manager in Fferyllfa ER Hughes Pharmacy, Criccieth, said: "As a company we are really looking forward to opening our new pharmacy Fferyllfa J Ellis Jones Pharmacy in Llanberis by the end of October. The exact date is to be confirmed soon.

"This year marks the 20th anniversary of the start of Fferyllwyr Llŷn.

"The first pharmacy opened its doors in Nefyn, in September 2003. Since then, we have established branches in Llanbedrog, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Abersoch and Criccieth. We also have a health and wholefoods shop in Pwllheli called Iechyd.

"Fferyllwyr Llŷn prides itself at being at the heart of the community, proud to offer a personalised service to all our customers. We also offer a wide range of services including prescription dispensing, acute conditions clinic (operated by pharmacist prescribers) and a travel clinic."

When asked why Fferyllwyr Llŷn had chosen Llanberis for their next location, Eleri replied: "We became aware that the current pharmacy in Llanberis was set to close, and that patients would then be expected to travel quite a distance to access pharmaceutical services.

"The feeling in the village was very strong about the change in circumstance, and we felt that our company’s ethos would fit in nicely within such a tight knit community. We’re also excited to develop a good working relationship with the local GP surgeries."

The pharmacy will provide a full range of NHS and Private pharmacy services including one off, repeat, and private prescriptions, Common Ailments, Smoking Cessation and Contraception Services.
