TITLE hopefuls Bangor head into their week off 21 point behind Premier Division leaders Llandudno following an eight wicket home win over Pontblyddyn.

The hosts made an inspired decision by choosing to field, with the ever-impressive Francois Mosert taking the scalp of opener and captain Ben Mason for a duck.

Things got even better soon after when David Winter dismissed the pair of Romario Greaves (1) and Chris Moss, and Mosert was on hand again to despatch wicketkeeper James Griffiths for three.

The player of the year candidate was in scintillating form with the ball throughout, and he tore through the visiting lower order to end the day with spectacular figures of 6-20 from eight overs.

An unbeaten 45 from Chris Myles ensured the away side managed to get into a three figure score, but they were all out for just 110 from 37 overs.

The hosts reached their required total with minimal fuss, although Sion Evans made just one before he was caught off a Chris Moss delivery.

Fellow opener David Winter made a promising 30 before he was run out by Alistair Roberts, but that was the end of the Pont wickets as the partnership of Nadeem Rehman and Mosert gave the home side the triumph.

Rehman produced a knock of genuine quality to end the day on 54no, and Mosert added an unbeaten 17 as the hosts reached their target after 26 overs.
