The COMPETITIVE racing season gets underway at the Anglesey Circuit this weekend.

The Wirral 100 Club's motorcycle race meet on Sunday will see all manner of bikes take to the track, including modern vehicles ranging form 100-1000cc.

Older classic bikes will also race as will the ever-popular sidecars.

Welsh riders have been the men to beat at Anglesey in recent years.

Jay Harris from Holyhead has been the dominant force in the 600cc category, but with a new sponsor and bike this year and is set to concentrate his efforts on the British Supersport Championship.

This could be good news for Amlwch's Barry Evans who placed second in 2015's Newcomers Manx Grand Prix,

In the 100?500cc classs the Bryn Taff teammates Darren Jones from Llanrug and Bryn Owen from Caernarfon are the men to beat.

Four-wheeled action fans will have to wait a week longer for a racing fix. On Sunday, March 20, a stage rally organised by Pendle and District Motor Club kicks off a packed and varied car racing season.
