Diver dies after incident at Dorothea Quarry:

A MAN died after getting into difficulties while diving in a Gwynedd quarry has been named.

Julian Philip Kelsall, aged 42, of Fenton in Staffordshire, was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd from the Dorothea Quarry near Caernarfon.

North Wales Police were called to the quarry at 1.15pm yesterday (Sunday, August 31) after reports that a diver had got into difficulties 40 metres under the surface. 

The man was pulled out by two other divers. 

A North Wales Police spokesman said: "The air ambulance attended the scene, along with a helicopter from 22 Squadron, and the man was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd where he was pronounced dead."

The two divers who pulled the man out of the water were taken for de-compression treatment at the Murrayfield Hospital on the Wirral.

The spokesman added: "North Wales Police are currently investigating the full circumstances of the incident.
