FELINHELI Festival reached its grand finale in blazing sunshine on Saturday with the carnival on Beach Road.

The week long celebration, which included a talent show, a 10k race, various trips, sports, games, music and dancing came to an end on Saturday as a parade of colourful floats and villagers adorned in fancy dress made its way through the village.

The Carnival continued on the Green with music from Menai Bridge Band, Band Ifan Em, Catrin Hopkins, San Segur.

Popular band Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog brought the day to an end as villagers of all ages sat on the grass and bathed in the warm sunshine.

Throughout the afternoon children enjoyed all sorts of fair rides; there were two climbing towers, face painting, circus skills workshop, Kariad Balwns and all sorts of stalls.

Among the charities that took part were Gafael Llaw, Felin Sgwrsio, Cylch Meithrin Y Felinheli, Felinheli Art Club, Felin Gylchu and Felin 70%+, which promotes the use of the Welsh in the village.

Felinheli councillor and Gwyl Y Felinheli organising committee member, Sian Gwenllian, said: “Thank you to everyone for making the 2014 Festival such a wonderful community event.”

"The committee under the Chairmanship of Islwyn (Bonc) Owen has worked hard as always.

"From the 10K, quiz, local produce fair to the Noson Lawen and Twmpath Dawns, there was something for everyone again this year.

"It’s a great opportunity for villagers to get together to socialise and enjoy village culture.

"The Gwyl Y Felin committee will have a short break now before starting to plan for the 2015 event ! I’m looking forward to that already!"
