Rhys Ifans and Charlie Higson set to appear at Festival No.6 in Portmeirion

ACTOR Rhys Ifans is one of the latest names announced for a popular north Wales festival.

The Ruthin-raised star joins Fast Show co-creator and bestselling author Charlie Higson at this year’s Festival No.6 at Portmeirion from September 5-7.

Ifans, who was raised in Rhuthin, will appear alongside director Kevin Allen (Twin Town) and BBC 6 Music poet-in-residence Murray Lachlan Young in a Dylan Thomas centenary tribute.

They will be joined by BBC 6 Music presenter and author Stuart Maconie and more.
The literary line-up also Higson and his fellow Fast Show star Simon Day, beatboxer Shlomo, who will read from his debut novel One Three One.

Film-maker, novelist and critic Jonathan Meades will talk about his new memoir An Encyclopedia of Myself and food critic Jay Rayner (The Observer, The One Show) will also be at the event.

This year’s comedy bill will be Josh Widdicombe, Henning Wehn, Robin Ince, Tony Law, Phil Kay, Sara Pascoe, James Acaster and Marcel Lucont.

Bez, of indie act the Happy Mondays, will host Bez’s Question Time.

The festival, which is named after the lead character in The Prisoner, will also feature music from the likes of Beck, London Grammar, Martha and the Vandellas, Neneh Cherry, Jimi Goodwin and Bonobo.
