AN ANGLESEY lifeboat crew was called twice in two hours to incidents on the Menai Strait.
The Beaumaris RNLI volunteer inshore lifeboat launched at 2.55pm on Thursday, April 17 to help a women whose kayak had capsized near Puffin Island, at the entrance to the strait.
An RNLI spokesman said: “She appeared to be showing signs of mild hypothermia; the lifeboat with the casualty aboard returned immediately to the lifeboat station where an ambulance was waiting to transport the young lady to Ysbyty Gwynedd for further treatment.”
A mobile coastguard team was at Penmon Point to assist if it had been required.
The team broke from a training session at 6.50pm after a vessel ran aground near Abermenai Point.
The spokesman added: “Following a check of the craft it was ascertained that she was able to continue under her own power to a place of safety consequently the lifeboat returned to Beaumaris arriving at 9pm.”
