A MAN has been jailed after he attacked his former partner with a knife on an Anglesey petrol station forecourt.

Keith Williams, aged 56, of Brynsiencyn, was sentenced to six and a half years in prison today (Friday, January 25) for the assault on the woman and her new partner at Tyn Lon Garage in Llanfairpwll, causing serious injury.

Speaking after the hearing in Caernarfon Crown Court, investigating officer DC Trystan Davies welcomed the sentence.

He said “I believe this sends a clear message that acts of domestic violence will not be tolerated in our communities, North Wales Police and the courts.

“The prompt and effective response to this incident, where the defendant was arrested at the scene, prevented further harm and injury being caused.

“ I would like to praise both victims for the bravery and courage they have shown throughout their ordeal. I would also like to reassure the public that acts of violence such as this are a rare occurrence in North Wales”

Anyone with concerns about domestic abuse or other forms of violence should contact North Wales Police or 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
